Muskegon Air Fair has been cancelled due to greed. The greed started many years ago, but I finally caught up. Muskegon had a great air fair which was now attracting top acts like the Blue Angels. The first step was banning carry ons, like water and food. they forced the people to buy from their overpriced concessions. Then they decided to run it against Summer Celebration. Then they hand everything over to the people who run Summer Celebration. I believe they might have a good idea when they ran the two events together, air show during the day and celebration at night.
This was no longer was a family event due to the expense of the tickets and the price of food. Once again greed and Muskegon politics ruin something good.
A friend of mine was wondering what would happen to his cats once he has passed on. As a cat lover myself, I know my cats won't outlive me. No one else would change their litter or feed them. They would pack up and leave. How do I know this? I found this picture hidden in their cat bed. They are planning on leaving in style.

Have you ever wondered why his opinions counts? Tom Cruize is a good, maybe great actor. He is on top of his trade. His trade is acting, PERIOD.
Why then should he be considered an expert on anything else. He has failed in marriage, he made an ass of himself while being interviewed about his relegion.
Mel Gibson was castrisized about his rantings about the Jews. He is only an actor. No one made him pope or spokesman for all christians.
Barby Striesand is an actress and singer. What makes her a political expert.
Lets get real people. These people are here to entertain us, and that is all.

Sign, signs, everywhere a sign. When I saw this picture I had to chuckle. In todays political world, this sign makes sense. Politicians use slight of hand, half truths, and slants to hide the truth. They make you look one way, while going the other. Why would anyone vote for a person or party that can't stand on their record and tell the truth.
In Michigan, both parties have misrepresented the facts so badly tha only the truth is evident. The Govorner and the Legislature have failed and should be replaced.

Advice is like butts. Everyone has one and most of the time they stink.
I've always wondered why some people ask for your advice even when all they want is to express their own opinions. Most of the time people ask for advice as a way to start up a conversation. Be carefull when asking for advice, you might get something you don't like. If you have teenage kids, your advice will stink.

Detroit Lions still winless. This could be the year that the Lions go winless, but I don't think so. This week the offense looked good, but the defense stunk. Over all, the Lions just wilted under the glow of Brett Farve. I think of them as I do my golf game. Some day when I can put all parts of my game together, I might have a chance of winning. I am still a fan.
Detroit Tigers have clinched a playoff spot. No matter what they do, they have passed all expectations. I'm not getting too excited, because I still have the bad taste of Pistons and RedWings in my mouth.
Michigan State football has become idiotic, for loss of a better word. It is so bad I was almost tempted to watch Michigan. I realized that nothing is that bad.
In closing I must congradulate Notre Dame for their comeback win, and taking a game given to you. Last year the Spartan tried to give it away, and you gave it back.
There is always next week

Michigan State Spartans, what happens when you play only one half of football? You lose. What happens when you sit on the ball? You lose. When coach Smith climbed a mountain, did he get a helecopter ride off the mountain? You have to play the whole game. Saturdays lose to ND was an embarasment to all associated with the Spartans and their program. The rope-a-dope only worked for Ali because boxing is a fixed sport and the outcome is already known. Last year they almost lost to ND when they decided to sit on the ball. This year it worked.

The Simpsons.
Sometime I feel that our family is like the Simpsons cartoon. Me being Homer, Liz being Marge, Don JR. being Bart, Catherine being Lisa, and Lindsey being Maggie. Homer and I have a lot in common. We both have extra weight, we don't know what is going on half the time, and just about everything I try tends to go wrong. Liz, like Marge, is always trying to please the family and improve herself. Donald and Bart like to dream big. Lisa and Catherine are sensitive, but can belt you if you get in their way, and Lindsey and Maggie dance to the beat of their own drum.
Everybody has comedy and irony in their lives and this is represented by Krusty the Clown.
What make the Simpsons so popular, is that every family can relate.

The Detroit Lions. Just saying those words make you chuckle. For those of you who are sports fans, you might start to hear a familiar chant. "Fire Millan". Matt Millan is the general manager of the Detroit Lions. He is the one who does the hiring and firing. He has fired two coaches so far and hired three. The Lions still fail to achieve. After every failure, Matt blames the coaches, the players, the media, and everyone else he can. He is the ultimate plitician.
I have been a Lions fan all my life. Every year I am optomistic that the Lions willa break out with a great season. Every year us fans are saying, "wait til next year."
What is wrong with the Lions? The defense looks very sound, and the offense(on paper) is as good as any other team, yet here we sit at 0-2.
The new coach, Ron Marrinelli, is a hard task master. He emphasizes teaching them to do it right. When the players don't do it right, he blames himself for not teaching properly. He emphasizes team play, and will not critisize players. In other words he and the players are tough while singing Kumbiya and getting the Heck kicked out of them. I realize that the two teams that we played are the tops in the league. We played Seattle tough, but lost. We didn't even show up against the Bears. This week we play the Packers (0-2), and will find a way to loose this one.
Three of the Lions top draft choices are gone, washed out, or deep in the bench, or doghouse. The Lions have never had a stable quarterback. See if you can remember all the QB's. Harrington, Mc MaMahn,Batch,Garcia, Krammer, Mitchell, Reed, Danilson, Landry, Munson, Ferguson,Ware,Sweetan, and many more. Non of these are big names.
The running backs are a little better because of Barry Sanders, Sims, and Steve Owens, but only Sanders stayed long enough. Because of the lack of quality at QB., the reciever list is even shorter.
Look at all the head coaches that have graced the sideline. Remember Wayne Fonts? when you finish laughing, he had the best winning percentage of all past Lion coaches.
Two games into the season I can say with confidence, wait till next year. Every team knows the west coast offence, so the Lions bring in the West Coast offense. Everyone knows Mike Marc offense, so they bring in Mike Marcs. Every offense has figured out the TampaBay Defense, so they bring in the intentor of that defense. The Lions have nothing new to worry the opposition.

On Friday @ 12.30 pm I am having an MRI and MRA. I think they are looking for signs of intelligent life between my ears. If they do find a brain, they will then try to determine why it wants to shut off once in a while. My wife says it shuts off so that I don't have to listen to our kids beg for money. I'm sure there are some people who think my brain never turns on.
My concerns are not only that they don't find anything wrong, then why the headaches and spells of half my body going numb. If they find something, can they correct it.
Whatever the outcome, say a prayer for me and my family. Maybe they will discover how it is possible for a person like me to play the piano so badly.
Well I guess the Pope stepped in it big time. Once again the denominational wars are going strong.
"My relegion is better than yours" How about "My God is stronger then yours". Lets destroy everyone in "our God's" name. The Catholic did it for years, so they should not call the kettle black. Maybe the Pope was using Catholic history as an example of what happens when you kill in the name of God.
Why can't these groups try something different. Try embrasing each other instead of killing each other.

Playing the piano. Those of you that don't play the piano won't understand. When you can just sit down and play the piano, all you troubles just disappear. You don't have to be the greatest piano player, you just sit down and play. When people bug you, you can sit down and play and forget about everything.

This is why any office holder in Michigan should be voted out. They are failing in their Jobs. The Governor has failed, fire her. The state senate has failed, fire them, The mayors and all elected officials have failed, fire them. The Democrats blame the Republicans, fire the Democrats. The Republicans who blame the democrats should be fired. Come on people, this is simple. If you wern't doing the job you were hired for, you would be fired. No matter who you blamed it on, you would be fired. Don't let the political parties talk you out of it. If you vote along party line, you deserve all these bad things. Both political parties are sticking it to you and blaming the other guy. Both the Republican parties and the Deomocratic parties are in bed with big business.
The blame game is over. The enablilities of the parties to work togather should be reason enough to fire them all. The political parties are an embarrasment to any person with a brain.

Gas prices are dropping. People have stopped complaining because they have dropped almost $.75 per gallon. People, lets not forget, that gas prices have to get around $1.50 per gallon for us to be happy. My figures show that they are only half way there. Vegetable oil is on $.65 per gallon and with minor alteration a car can run on it.
The automotive industry knows that fossel fuel run vehicles are no longer practical, but they keep manufacturing gas gusselers and loose money. They in turn cut jobs which makes people unable to purchase their products.
America has the knowlege, they have the product(cars that run on vegetable oil), and a renewable fuel source. What is the problem. The problem is the Democrats and the Republicans. The United States is a monarchy with the King and Queen are the Democrats and Republicans.

This week just keeps getting better. My son had a bad vibration in his car. I went out for a ride with him and determined that his rear tire had gone really bad. We took the car to Discount Tire. They were closing, but agreed to service us. Of course, I had to pay for the tire.
This morning on his way back from Holland and his job, Don Jr. rear ended another car and pretty much totaled his car. This happened in Grand Haven. I had to pay to have it towed. He did not get a ticket because he was avoiding construction equipment that had wondered into his lane. He now has no car, no money, a job in Holland with no way to get there. I am glad he wasn't hurt.

Blame Bush. Blame the republicans. Blame the Democrats Blame the senate. Blame the congress. Blame the oil companies. Blame the Governor, blame the past office holders, blame the christians, and blame the Jews. Blame Mel Gibson and blame Ted Kennedy. Blame the weather and blame the moral majority. Blame affirmative action and blame racism. blame the schools, and blame MTV. You can blame everyone for everything and still not get anything done.
The only one to blame is yourself. When you go to the polls and vote along party lines, you are to blame. When you listen to political retoric and campaign advertising, you are to blame. Wise up people and get educated. Political parties are backed by big business and they want your money for their supporters. If you don't believe me, then why are the two biggest business in the United States are the Democratic and Republican Parties? Why don't they want a line item veto? Why are most of your politicians very wealthy?
Gas prices are going down. At this rate they will be below $2.00 per gallon by election day. In Mid December, the gas prices will begin to climb again. Gas prices are deterrmined by 1) what the market will bare 2) Political gain, since politicians are backed by big money 3)Speculation, real or imagined, and 4) greed. Gas prices will rise again in time for Christmas.
Fear is now being injected into grain fuel. Some people are saying that everyone will starve if grain is used for fuel. Lets see, we could put thousands of farmers back to work, tap a renewable fuel source, and keep price low. Instead of replacing fosel fuel, let it compete with fosel fuel. Compitition will keep fuel prices in check.

Jennifer Granholm mud wrestling. The Governor of the great state of Michigan is down in the mud. Her and the democratic party have taken on a war of lies, half truths, and down right nasty campaigning. Up until this point I have favored Jennifer over Rich Devos. I admit she is over her head as Gov., but she is learning. The worst Governor is still Blanchard. Michigan still hasn't recovered from him. The democrats in their ads try to mislead people about Devos and his Business in China. (Everyone knows that to do business in China, you have to manufacture in China), and that the Garbage shipped into Michigan started under Blanchard. Before you Repubicans start cheering, this is the worst state senate ever, which is run by the Republicans. I say give Jenny another 4 years, and replace the senate and give the majority to the Democrats. If they do what they did under Blanchard, Republican will win everything in 4 years. Democrat and Granholm, stop the mud slinging and present something other than old lines like, "the Democrats are for the poor and Republican are for the rich." If that BS is all that you can come up with, then just hand everything over to the Republican.

I read in the Muskegon Chronicle that fishermen were anchoring their boats in the Muskegon Channel to fish. They feel that they have the right to block water traffic so that they can fish. 1000 foot vessels should just go around them.
They have as much right as do people who want to play backgammon on a railroad track. How stupid are these people. You have room to fish in Muskegon Lake and Lake Michigan. You feel you have to fish in the only area that connects the two lakes. These people should not only be fined, but should have their heads examined. The most humoruous part of this , is that these fishermen think that fish are smart. I guess they are, compared to them.

What a worship service. Sunday evening we enjoyed the most spirit filled service. Clayton Hartimann and his two sisters brought the word and music. The little church was rockin. They shared the word, sang beautiful music and really made the organ dance. I was in awe when I saw this 60 years old hammond organ played so well and with so much spirit and soul. This was the most rockin music since Don Jr. and I played music togather on organ and drums. Praise God, he was truely in our midst.

This has been a long week. The week started with my wife having carpel tunnel surgery. I had to switch schools that my daughter attends. My friend dies on Thursday and I suffer a TIA(minor stroke). Yesterday a friend of ours gave birth to a son. My friend Louie and his wife Earlaine celebrated their aniversary on Friday, which is also Louie's birthday. My coffee maker died and I had to buy a new one.
I know that everyone has bad weeks and my complaints are minor as compared to others. My idea was to keep all this in my head, but now my brain gets attacked by a minor stroke. Thank God for blogs and unused portions of my brain.

I lost a friend this week. On Thursday my friend, Lowell Wollfis passed away. Lowell had fought MS for near 30 years, only to have cancer take him. Lowell was confined to a wheelchair and his wife was his constant companion and aid. I've known Lowell for about 15 years and never heard him complain about his plight. Lowell attacked life with God on hand and his wife on the others. Anyone he came in touch was blessed, and I was the most blessed. His funeral will be on Monday, September 11. This is also the five year aniversary of 911. I will miss you Lowell, and you are as big a hero as anyone who died on Sept.11. Goodbye my friend

This morning I awoke to the fog. My daughters school. Mona Shore High School, was delayed two hours. In my opinion it will take alot longer for the fog to disappear. Although natures fog has cleared, the fog of the administration will not clear. For years my daughter has been harrased and most recently threatened. The schools just says that girls will be girls and maybe she should go to another school. We are looking for another school today. Mona Shores has now solved another problem.

Two friends from "down under" have left. Everyone by now knows about the demise of Steve Erwin. He was killed by a stingray. My other person was a special guest from New Zealand, Mellisa. She is a friend of my son, and visited us during her walk about around the world. She is a wonderful, cheerfull, always smiling girl who loves an adventure. If you read this Mellissa, thank you for bringing your cheer to our side of the world. If she is walking thru your part of the world, get to meet her. She is special

Sports junkies unite. This is the time of the year that the most sports are being played. Men and Women basketball, baseball, softball, gold, football, and more. What was on Espn. Poker. I'm looking for sports like racing, or college sports and I get poker. Since when is poker a sport. If this is the case, when is public speaking being aired. How about home chores, couch potatoes, or the sport of people watching. I got it, lets have a grass growing compitition. I thought golf, hockey, and soccer was boaring, but cards on TV. I have a great idea for ESPN. Why not poker compitition played by the Men Of WWF. Lets watch the loser break a table over the winners head.
